HelperMate 2.3.9 is now available on Google Play and the App Store. This update is about timing: asking you for things when they make sense, and not before.
Notifications, Asked When They Matter
Until now, employers saw the phone's notification permission box the moment they opened the app, before there was anything to be notified about. That is a hard question to answer when you have not seen the app yet.
In 2.3.9 the app waits. Employers are now asked in one of two moments:
- Right after sharing the invite code, when you are waiting for your helper to join.
- After you have looked at today's task list for a few seconds, once your helper is linked.
A short screen explains what the notifications will tell you, with two buttons: Turn on and Not now. If notifications are blocked on your phone, the button takes you straight to the phone's settings instead. If you choose Not now, the app may ask again a few more times later, and then leaves you alone.
Rating the App, Only After It Has Helped
HelperMate may now invite you to rate it on the store, but only at a good moment:
- Employers: after you have seen your helper finish tasks over several days, when you are on the Home screen.
- Helpers: right after you finish a task successfully, once you have been using the app for a while.
You are never asked straight after something went wrong, such as a task that failed to save or a photo that failed to upload, and never while another message is already on screen. The "Rate the app" line in Help now opens the store page directly.
More Burmese
About twenty more pieces of text are now translated into Burmese, including the steps of the invitation message. Burmese now also appears in the list of languages you can send an invitation in. These new Burmese texts were translated by computer and have not yet been checked by a native speaker, so if something reads oddly, please tell us from the Help screen.
