HelperMate 2.3.6 is now available on Google Play and the App Store. This update is about the first step that matters most: getting your helper into the app, with notifications working, so the household schedule actually reaches them.

Invite Your Helper From the Home Screen

Until a helper joins your household, the Home screen now shows an Invite your helper card.

  • The invite message includes the links to Google Play and the App Store, so your helper can install the app straight from the message.
  • You can choose the language of the message, so your helper reads it in a language they are comfortable with.
  • The app also makes a picture guide with your household's invite code and how to find HelperMate in the store. Send it with the message — some messaging apps drop the text when a picture is attached, and the picture still carries what your helper needs.

A Gentle Reminder to Invite

If no helper has joined your household yet, HelperMate sends you a reminder in the evening — on the first, third and seventh day after you set up the household — and then stops. Households that already have, or have had, a helper do not get these reminders.

Notifications That Actually Arrive

Your helper's schedule only helps if the reminders reach their phone.

  • Before the phone asks for notification permission, helpers now see a short explanation of why HelperMate needs it. If they choose Not now, the explanation comes back on a later launch, up to three times.
  • If notifications are turned off on the helper's phone, both the helper and the employer now see a notice, so you can help turn them back on together. The employer sees only whether notifications are on or off — never anything else from the helper's phone.

Tasks Translated for Helpers Who Read English

Helpers who read the app in English now see tasks that were written in another language, such as Korean, translated into English. Previously, translation was skipped whenever the helper's language was English.

Burmese Screens

Most of the app's screens are now translated into Burmese. Money-related text and country names stay in English until a native speaker has reviewed them.

Also Since 2.3.4

  • When a newer version is available, HelperMate suggests updating, and you can dismiss the suggestion. On Android, the update downloads inside the app.
  • On small phones with large text, the sign-in screen no longer cuts off the sign-in buttons.
  • Stability improvements throughout the app.
